Why pick brass jewelry over other materials?

Why would you actually choose brass jewelry over other jewellery materials? Beauty and rustic look maybe? The color? Let’s take a dive on the subject.

Brass is one of those timeless materials known from the ancient times until nowadays. Each time you go to a museum, you might see numerous brass objects that have lasted through centuries and remain intact. It seems that brass objects have been used since ever due to its durability and time persistence.

You might ask yourself is brass jewellery good for me ?

Brass is an alloy made out of copper and zinc, minerals that are essential for the human body. Our skin can absorb some of these minerals, which can be quite beneficial for our overall health. Many believe that brass offers a range of potential health benefits like improving blood circulation and skin health, stress relieving, joint and muscle pain relieving, along with the better balancing of energy and mood enhancement. Copper, in particular, is thought to have a positive effect on the cardiovascular system by supporting the efficient flow of blood and oxygen throughout the body.

Some say that if you notice your skin go green under your brass piece, it’s a your body telling you that it has absorbed enough copper. Nothing to worry about, just take it off for a few days. Your body will then go on to consume it and after a few days (more/less), you can wear it again to give your body a chance to absorb its dose of copper.

I’ve already mentioned that brass has been used since ancient times. It is also regarded as a powerful tool in spiritual practices across cultures. Known for its unique combination of copper and zinc, brass is believed to possess various metaphysical properties that can enhance one’s spiritual journey. Whether worn as a personal talisman, a tool for meditation, or simply for its energetic resonance, brass is said to offer a wide range of spiritual benefits.

Brass is environmentally friendly material. Compared to more precious metals, brass is often more sustainable, due to its relatively low energy requirement for extraction and production. Additionally, the durability of brass means that it doesn’t need to be replaced as frequently, which can help reduce waste in the long term.

Brass has a natural warm golden hue, it is not coloured and the color will not be removed from your jewellery. Yet, bear in mind that, due to its characteristics, this alloy can get darker. This darker nuance called tarnishing can be also very attractive and it can make your jewelry even more captivating by bringing a certain antique note and patina. The good news is, that if you don’t resonate with it, you can clean tarnished jewelry quite easily and bring back the very same glow that it had when you bought it.

Owning a piece of brass jewelry might bestow you with affordable elegance bringing a unique gold-like appearance that mimics more expensive metals but without the hefty price tag.
